Chase the cascade! Experience the breathtaking beauty of Bali’s Tegenungan Waterfall. Your adventure into nature awaits.
The Tegenungan Waterfall is a top destination and Instagram backdrop in Bali, Indonesia that locals and tourists flock to visit. Located in the Tegenungan Kemenug village (about halfway between Ubud and Denpasar) the waterfall is fed by the various streams and rivers that collect rainfall from high in the volcanic mountains of the islands.
The waterfall has no significant history other than being a viral location on social media stories and the background of countless selfies.
This destination is away from the populated capital city of Denpasar and is a 60-minute ride from the touristy spots in Bali. This destination is easily accessible through the many tour operators in the area and can be one (of many) destinations on a full day of exploration. Expect lots of slow-moving traffic as the local roads and infrastructure weren’t built to handle the volume of vehicles and tourists that make the trek to this fantastic location.

The entrance to the falls blossomed into a tourism-targeted mecca with dozens of local vendors selling local wares, trinkets and food.
There are great spots along the rim of the falls to snap amazing pictures; most of the iconic places usually have a small fee (5-10K IDR) to take pictures. If you want to get some cardio exercise in, you can descend the hundreds of stairs down to the riverbed to swim in the waters of the Tegenungan Waterfall.
The flow and clarity of the water will fluctuate depending on rainfall in the mountains upstream; overall, the destination is a picturesque jungle waterfall that is very popular with locals and tourists.
